That's cool.
Would be handy for a few apps I've thought of but would only work with several people running the app for long periods of time.
Normally this would make the iPhone unusable but with this it would solve that problem.

I wonder if you could just run a single app which gave you access to a proper computer, with all the power and multi-tasking you need? Something like RDP, but with the server end tailored specifically for a mobile client with mobile applications? By all accounts the iPhone doesn't pack much grunt, but our office servers are pretty beefy and on all the time.
Actually, I think Google have pretty much already done it - and with a brain the size of a planet rather than a 1U Dell.

ROFL, that would be an awesome machine! In fact you could contract it out. Instead of buying an all singing all dancing mobile phone you just buy a small touchscreen with wifi/3G capability. Then (as a company) the contract goes towards paying for the servers that users access in order to run stuff. Not a bad idea JJ All you have is the data cost of sending the image/sound down to the phone like streaming. You could even handle calls on the server.

It's quite an intriguing concept actually. There's no reason I couldn't develop a client for several different platforms, not just the iPhone. I'm guessing there must be a free VNC app already, but a customised version would offer a far slicker user experience. All the graphics would be cached locally, so it would be very much more responsive. Obviously, everything would be designed to work optimally on a mobile environment. Scrolling is not fun. I guess it should be open source and free for people who run their own servers, but you'd need to pay for hosting if you didn't do it yourself. So, what do people want on my "hosted phone" app? Obviously I'd include a SIP account for cheap or free calls, since that's what I do for a living lol. Problem is, I don't live with an iPhone so I don't really know what it lacks. Second problem, I have a seriously hectic work schedule already. I should be working now

I notice, in the video, that they didn't actually use any apps which would benefit from multitasking. All the apps they used were static apps which load quickly anyway and which sit there waiting for user input. It would have been interesting to see it actually do some real multi-tasking, like multiple chat clients or something which does work in the background, a video player etc. What they displayed wasn't really showing off multi-tasking, more task switching... As to RDP, try iTap RDP, RDP Lite, RDP, Jaadu RD, ezSharePro, Citrix Metaframe Client, iRdesktop, iScuba RDP, RDM+, GooerRDP, Wyse Pocket Cloud, myRDP, PC2ME...
