BBC iPLayer on the PS3 is an excellent addition to that console’s feature set. It’s a shame that this facility is not available for XBox users.

Well that sucks! Although as a Gold member anyway I don't mind if they only make it available to Gold subscribers.

It's not cancelled It's indefinitely suspended release until an agreement is being made, BBC want it available to silver members, MS want it for gold only

"Microsoft only wants to offer its users access to platforms it can charge for as this is the model it is pursuing,"
And this kids, is why you don't buy an eggbox. I don't see how Microsoft can possibly justify charging people to access a free service, one that Microsoft doesn't even have an interest in.

You are so wrong there Look at Carbon and Mediaroom, they have a very large interest in the area, free or not It's no different to iPlayer on Virgin though, you can't get the service without paying for a premium service. If you don't take the tv with the on demand you can't get it

All of Virgin's TV services come with on-demand - they don't charge you any extra to access iPlayer. Unlike Microsoft apparently...

But you have to subscribe to the paid service to use it, there is no free option like freesat etc

I don't pay for cable TV. Basic cable is free when you've got a broadband line with them.

Weird, last 3 broadband connections I have had with them by cable they wouldn't provide the service for free. those were 10 & 20mb connections too.

Too make money from minimal outlay,it's perfect for MS if they can make money from something someone else has developed. That said, why MS insist upon constantly shooting themselves in the foot is beyond me, the sheer arrogance is unbelievable.
