I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! winner Gino D'Acampo and Stuart Manning face charges of animal cruelty after cooking and eating a rat in the show.

The RSPCA in New South Wales, Australia, said it was "not acceptable" that a rat had been killed by the pair as part of a performance.

I'm curious to hear your views on this peeps - I'm leaning towards thinking 'Good luck proving it was a performance'...

I'm not sure it was done purely for the camera's but for the fact that the two were hungry and the rat kept running through the camp. If the chef though [LIFTED] I could make a nice dish out of that then so be it. The show is set in the jungle and in a tame way is all about survival...... imo nothing was done wrong that you didn’t see elsewhere in the show at some point.

:D

One rat's life to get rid of that tripe? I think it'd be worth it

Oh get over it! It's a RAT. They're horrible, horrible creatures.

Actually, they make lovely pets.

However, in this case it was dinner. The chances are, something was going to eat it sooner or later anyway.

There was probably less "animal cruelty" involved than your average Christmas Turkey suffers.

They're admirable creatures. As well as being great pets, my friend had a couple and they were the friendliest things you could meet, they have an amazing ability to survive as a species.

That is unless you leave them within 10 metres of some z-list halfwits who would probably cut off their own arm if it meant they were on TV for another 5 minutes. It's not like they would have starved to death.

Well I for one would not hesitate to telephone Pest Control services at the mere sight of a rat either in or near my property.

What does the average RSPCA member do when they've got a rodent under the floorboards I wonder? :?

Exactly. Not as if they're an endangered species. I've read that it may have been a tame rat, put in to give the contestants some extra stress. Did the programme makers not think that someone might kill it anyway as not everyone would like rats in the campsite?

Outstanding, let's incriminate the programme makers too

Neither are Z-list celebs, so why couldn't they have cut up one of their own?

It's nice to know the Aussie RSPCA are just as petty and moronic as the one over here.
He should easily be able to argue it was for food and not for the cameras.

In two minds, the show is dreadful, so I hope they get heat and it is pulled off the air...

On the other hand, they killed and cooked the animal and then ate it. That sounds fine to me - unless they tormented the rat needlessly whilst killing it.

If they had killed it as a joke, I think the RSPCA might have a point, but killing to eat, what next? All farms get sued and shut down?

What about hunters hunting for sport? They are worse offenders than these guys, at least they ate what they killed... :?
