Now when it comes syncing I think iTunes only lets you sync an iPhone with an application on the host computer, not with a file, such as vCards. I'm assuming your iPhone syncs with the PC and not a Mac? If it was me and it was an option I'd probably import the vCards into Address Book.app and then have iTunes on a Mac sync it with the iPhone. There may well be a better way though.

Edd, my query was specifically for Windows users, as our work has just got some iPhone handsets in to trial. It needs to be a Windows PC only solution, but thanks for your response.

I was thinking the same as Edd, would be simple enough on the mac but not sure about PC. Exporting to v Cards sounds right and on the mac you could import them to the address book which would synch. What address book does it synch on PC? I've always used macs.

Sorry I can't be of more help. I'd be interested to know what the solution is though.

C

EDIT: Just looked on google and I think it syncs though Outlook on PC so I guess you'd have to import the contacts there.

So if that's right, this would be the procedure : Export as vCard from Notes. Import vCard in to Outlook. Import in to iTunes from Outlook?

I don't think it ever enters iTunes as such. You just tell iTunes to sync Outlook Contact list with the iPhone/iPod touch.

I think what he means is you have to specify to synch contacts in iTunes no matter what software is used. It's just a bit simpler on the mac.

Under Windows it either synchs with Outlook or Windows Address Book (if you don't have Outlook installed, WAB comes free with Windows).

It works the same was as the Mac, you just tell iTunes to synch contacts (and whether WAB or Outlook, in this case) and that's it. iTunes doesn't physically import them, it just copies them between your address book and the iPhone - it probably keeps a checksum on both sides, in case of changes.

The following might be of use:

PDA Phone Home.com
JM Interactive Sync Lotus Notes for iPhone
iClink (14 day trial, $99 to buy)
For Mac Notes users
Official IBM iNotes solution
Thread on modmyi.com

Sorry folks, yes, it was Dave.
Basically, as said above : Export as vCard from Notes, import vCard in to Outlook and get iTunes to point to Outlook. It works a treat.
I haven't tried it with Outlook Express, but from what I believe it will only work with the full Outlook application.
Many thanks peeps.

Mark

Yep, only Outlook - or Windows Addressbook.

Some of the links I gave should work with Notes directly syncing to the iPhone, like Exchange or MobileMe... That would be a better solution, to be honest.

Is it worth having a sticky for apps worth buying/downloading? There are thousands of apps to choose from and not all of them are good...

Sounds like a good idea to me.

Stick RunKeeper on there http://runkeeper.com/

That's the first App I'll be getting when I get my iPhone.
