   | The pics were not taken by me but both were taken on a brand new 50D. I discussed the focus issue at length with the photographer and he took more samples which I will try and put up here later. I do think I have a focus issue with my 40D and 100-400mm lens and have yet to test them with the old tape measure method. Perhaps if the rain holds off at lunchtime??? Al_________________

   | There was an issue with some Canon bodies and front/back focus, IIRC. Something to do with body/lens combinations. That's about as much as I know, so might be worth a Google. Or, you could try manual focus like a proper camera.

   | Here's a shot I did today. I kept the 50mm wide open for most of the set I've stuck up on Flickr. | Sigma make a 50mm f/2.8 macro in most if not all mounts, and it is very very sharp. Cheap too. I know f/2.8 isn't the fastest, but with 1:1 magnification and a CrAzY minimum aperture of f/45 it's extremely versatile.

   | Be thankful he didn't use different colours as well... _________________My Flickr | Snaptophobic BloggageHeather Kay: modelling details that matter. "Let my windows be open to receive new ideas but let me also be strong enough not to be blown away by them." - Mahatma Gandhi.

   | Only changing colour every word? Boring! And the capitalisation's pretty predictable too... (8-p)

   | Everyone's a critic. Can you see the amount of markup required to randomly colour each letter? You'd have to be mad to do that. _________________My Flickr | Snaptophobic BloggageHeather Kay: modelling details that matter. | I wrote a python script to generate it once. But yes, the output is messy...

   | Alex - it's the autofocus that causes the issue. Actually it could be an autofocus AnD Image Stabilisation problem because when IS is switched off (and you use a tripod), the issue is difficult to replicate. Al_________________
