Hi Guys, I've just written a Java Secret Santa program. It's source code only but if you want it it works really well. You put in a list of people (with email addresses) and you can change the message (and SMTP server) and it sends out emails to everyone on the list with their recipient. It checks so that no person receives themself as a recipient. If anyone wants the source then let me know. Also good as no one will no who has got who (not even the person setting it up ).

Secret Santa in a recession? We made gifts last year rather than buying. Was a lot more fun. If you get it working with Lotus Notes let me know

Secret Santa. Another nasty US import.

As long as you have an SMTP server it'll work You just have to type in the names and email addresses of the people involved. It's source though so you'll need to run it from Eclipse or whatever.

I did it at work whilst I was supposed to be working and had to download and instal the Java JDK from scratch so I didn't have time to play around with building it properly. I'll give it a go now from home

Why not Eclipse? XCode is nice for Objective C, but I can't stand it for much else, although it will do other stuff.

Dunno really. I like NetBeans. I also like Eclipse and NetBeans was the first one I thought of. LOL, I just checked and I already have Eclipse

I did a secret Santa where I work. I spoilt the fun for myself by seeing what I was buying myself. *sigh*

Set up a Google source repo?
Pretty cool to go to someone "Yeah you can see all my work <here>"

Buying a present for someone creates an obligation for them to do the same, all it does is increase consumption, usually on pointless rubbish. Don't do it.

In my work, it's something for the women to dramatize and 'have a giggle about'
