Hi. My normal level of spam mail has recently been in the region of 200-300 mails a day. When we came back from a two week holiday two years ago, we had several thousand e-mails to sort through, but it hasn't been that bad for a while. This week, however, I am getting no more than about twenty spam emails a day. I have had a quick Google for news results on this matter, to see if this is an Internet-wide crackdown, or if my ISP (Orange) is making more of an effort and there is nothing obvious there. Does anyone know if I've just got lucky, or is there something much larger going on? Some of you might remember that I am using Mailwasher, so I do see most of the mail sent to me. Although several domains are blocked on the Orange server, new ones crop up every single day. I don't think that I've had it so good since the first few months of using the 'net.

I only get one or two per day arriving into my Google Mail accounts - be they hosted on my domains or Gmail. And even then they get automatically sorted into the Junk Mail folders.

With Hotmail I'm seeing more and more spam hit my inbox. Gmail, more and more going to the junk folder... Even my VM inbox gets more spam now

I don't get any on my Hotmail, but my Gmail gets *looks* 50 so far today. The filter is pretty good though, only the very occasional false-positive.

Well I've noticed our spam has decreased markedly at work. We used to get around 5000 spam emails a day but now down to under 3000.

Don't think there's anything special going on. I've just switched servers and am getting less spam than usual. However, training the new server in spam is leading to massive amounts of acai spam which I was never getting before. Think it's just coincidence though.
Also, the new server rejects mail that isn't sent to a specific account, whereas the last one just forwarded it to me as the postmaster.

What is acai spam? Or is it something I don't want to know about?

Haven't the yanks shut down some big league spam bosses recently?
Plus ISPs are getting better at filtering at the server side. Well, they are if you believe their bumph.

I had noticed a spike in spam about a week ago. That is to say, about 4 got through the server in a couple of days, as opposed to my usual 1/month or less. Nothing at the moment.

Yeah, I get those in my Gmail account, it reads like some sort of 'supplement', 'Acai berry' is often one of the email titles. Must Google that later actually... EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acai

I haven't had any spam at work yet... But we have a Symantec hardware filter and GData Mail Gateway software.
My Hotmail gets about 1 or 2 spams a year (the account has been running since 1995)-
My Gmail hasn't received a single email yet - spam or not.
My me.com and private domains also don't really get any spam.
