Any way we could get the IRA to blow up all the big screens before that happens?

Looks reasonably promising and it can't fail to improve on the original, surely. Just hope it has got something new about it and isn't just another zombie film.

I'd recommend the original version of The Crazies, it's probably Romero's best film, it's not a zombie film by the way, people just go mental and... well it's Romero you can guess the rest. What marks it out from a lot of films of the time is the characterisations, particularly a senior military officer played by a black man (this is 1973 don't forget). Furthermore for a Romero film it's quite well directed being a bit slicker than the "Dead" films.

I can't honestly see the remake bringing a lot to the story, but Dawn Of The Dead was awesome and far superior to the original so who knows.

I'd have said Night Of The Living Dead or Dawn Of The Dead were his best. The Crazies was shown on TV a few months ago and it has aged badly. The acting is truly amateurish and the whole film is just boring. I'd agree that the remake of Dawn Of The Dead is superb.

"Burt Reynolds!"

Michael: Look, there's no point in arguing about this, all right? We need a solution. We need... we need to get some food over there.
Steve: Yeah, OK, I have an idea. We draw straws and the loser runs across the lot with a ham sandwich.

:D

I've not seen it in few years, but I'm not a big Romero fan and The Crazies stood out as one of films I still liked after viewing more than once (along with Night which on reflection is probably his best) each film he makes seems to get progressively worse than the last. Your quote very accurately describes all of Romero's films and particularly Diary Of The Dead undoubtedly his worst film, although it's spawned a very funny 100 things thread on IMDB.

Ironically Steven Seagal now makes better Zombie films than Romero.
