Hi all,

The Purple One was admiring some skullcandy headphones t'other day, since I'm struggling to get her a Christmas present I thought they might be a good purchase. But are they any good? The reviews seem mixed. She'll be using them (probably) out of her old iPod Shuffle or out of her iBook, perhaps later out of some other MP3 player.

I'm currently looking at these: clicky.

I don't know if it would make a difference, but the kind of bands she listens to include: misfits, faith no more, malefice, system of a down, jonny mental, 36 crazyfists and foo foighters. (list is perhaps a little out of date and taken from her Facebook page).

Thanks for any feedback,

Ben

I've got the 11mm FMJ's and they're rather good. I've also got a set of full-sized headphones from them but can't remember the model number, they sound OK.
Not as good as my Grado SR80's or iGrado's thought.

The iGrado's or Grado SR60's can be had for not too much money & sound brilliant (although are open back so sound leaks a little, they also like a decent amp to drive them)

That rules out the ipod then, but you could get a fiio.

In answer to the OP I think the Skullcandy's will make a fantastic Christmas present that your missus will be very happy with, sound quality will be fine and a definite improvement over the standard in-ear models. That said for an extra £5 I'd go with the i Grados, although I've just bought some Shure se102's which are insanely good.
