The point was that people will revolt against being fed the same generic ballad crap year after year. And those who Say Simon benefits... well yes, as his record sold, he doesnt get a benefit from RATM's sales aside from possibly stock going up.

Are you being sarcastic or what? We've been laughing at the irony on this very forum since the start

FWIW, I love Sony. Seriously. I'd kill to work in their R&D department.

A cynical business ploy it may be, but don't forget RATM signed to [LIFTED] Sony...

How could I? I am reminded of that every hour of every day by people who don't read threads they are commenting on...

Hence my assumption of sarcasm.

This thread is so funny I don't want it to end. The fact that Joe McAlgea and RATM are under the same record label has been debated to death on this very thread zillion time before. Which is something you should have known when you decided to comment on something you know absolutely nothing about. All this amazing power of the internet is useless if people don't use it properly e.g. don't read threads and they just talk out of their arse for the sake of talking.

I have tried dealing with this by being patient and trying to explain but it didn't work. I tried being rude and it didn't work either. Now I just played ignorant and laughed so I at least benefit from ignorance of others. One just can't beat ignorance no matter how hard he tries, all that one can do is laugh

I should really put this, what exactly does Sony BMG make out of an extra 500k of single sales. All of which were 99p or less I would say. Probably sold to retailer at 40p ea.

Do some math and that is £200k. Now split that up into band and label and suddenly it makes zilch difference in the major run of things. It is such an overstated fact, as if Sony would care that much, it makes up a minority of their sales!

More than this, the amount of people saying that Simon Cowell would be making money off Rage sales, yeesh, really. Kind of annoying when they assume Cowell owns Sony BMG.

You know, I reckon some of those names are made up. Plus, i can't believe how many times Simon Cowell has signed that petition.

Neither can Simon Cowell, I suspect. Regardless of where his puppet landed, he’s retained brand awareness and got even more publicity. Next year, he can play the underdog card.
