I'm generally very open to cover versions. Like Alex I too often enjoy hearing what others do to a tune and a song.

+1!
Mariah Carey's cover of Def Leppard's Bringin' on the Heartbreak was a travesty. She stripped it of all emotion. Emm Gryner's version of Def Leppard's Pour Some Sugar on Me was ace.
It only takes just a little imagination to do a good cover version.

Part of me really likes it but the other part thinks it's a song that should never be covered by anyone.

Personally, I think that's fcuking atrocious

I still prefer the original, but I've heard far worse than that... In fact, Slash was involved in an absolute car crash version recently with tuneless Fergie

I can't listen to this stuff that's being posted while I'm in work, but would that happen to be the version that's currently being used in an advert that's doing the rounds on telly at the moment?

Listening to Brian May during an interview last week, that's nearly an officially endorsed cover, since Queen provided all the backing tracks for it. And Brian wanted the same song to be Christmas Number 1 thrice.

I think the Scissor Sisters version was miles better.
