Watch out for the ice then, because it's been ridiculously cold and icy the last few days.

Cheers I did 2x360 just south of Salisbury one night last week  8-)

I prefer to manage this by, you know, not stamping on the accelerator.

Absolutely, I find the best way is to not use the accelerator at all when pulling away, just let the clutch up slowly without pressing the accelerator.

All our snow seems to be coming down as rain. :(

I prefer taxis. :geek: :geek: :geek: ;) ;) ;)

Here is a picture of an ice lantern I made. It’s on the front door step.

Thanks for all the pics guys, am loving them all. I'm continuing my boycott of Christmas here as it's not at all very christmassy.

It did rain over the weekend though, and I couldn't help but think it felt a lot more like home seeing all the decorations get wet and people running from shop to shop. However Monday morning bought back the 30 degree heats and now I'm back to thinking "22nd December, I'm not sure that's quite right"

just taken me over 4 hours to do the 30 minute drive i normally have .. saw car after car going sideways down the hill to Godstone .. had to close reigate junction as cars couldnt get up the slip. Havent seen a gritter in days around here ..
TBH i have never seen the roads in this condition before ,, total ice coverage in places on the A22 very very dangerous.

Just took me four and a half hours to get back from Harlow and it was a pretty frightening experience. On parts of the M25 is was extremely icy, and while some cars were doing 10mph there were dirty great trucks doing 60.

Well, Top Trumps, my GF is stuck outside of the Country and will be at least a day late getting home.

Snowing again here. Supposed to drive over to Lingen today and get a signature on a contract, then drive back. :(

Snow didn't affect my journey at all yesterday.

On Sunday, my girlfriend passed 2 cars in ditches. She stopped for the first one and it was a drunken Russian German man, didn't want help, think he was just hoping the police didn't turn up, before he sobered up!

High Wycombe town centre is closed (Amersham hill, Marlow hill A404) (London road, Oxford road A40)
no one can get in or out they just didn't really bother to grit any of the main roads which are very steep hills
this is the 21st century they could use other means to keep the roads clear especially on steep hills

my all season tyres (not winter tyres but better then summer tyres) are having trouble keeping up with the conditions as it is now ice with snow on top and a good frost to help them both along

oh well another day off work …

SHELTERS have been set up, hotels are full and Eden shopping centre is helping out stranded shoppers as the cold snap takes its toll on High Wycombe.

The police and Buckinghamshire County Council have tonight released a joint statement asking people to stay in their homes and urging motorists to stay in their vehicles or find alternative accommodation.

The authorities have set up four emergency shelters to house stranded residents.

These are the Wycombe Sports Centre, the Salvation Army in Frogmoor, Baptist Church in Easton Street, while Sainsbury’s and Morrisons have opened up their car parks.

Amersham Hill in the town centre has been closed to traffic, with officers directing motorists towards Beaconsfield.

Heavy snow fall on the way into work - I guess a couple of cm in the 30 minutes it took to drive to work.

Speeds on the dual-carriageway were affected, with the outside lane down to about 50mph.

The 1:3 hill up past the Uni hadn't been cleared, but even a stop-start at the pedestrian crossing didn't really phase the tyres.

Saw one idiot parked in a ditch, summer tyres by the look of it. He'll have some explaining to do, when he gets home... Driving licence gone, retrieval costs, fine, repair bill... :?

And over here thousands left their cars abandoned on roads because of less snow and ice than in Germany. I am still amazed that nobody on the news has even mentioned using winter tyres...

I'm amazed the people who should have been in charge of getting the roads gritted haven't been hung from lamp posts.

That as well. Although you'd probably get stuck to the lampost as well seeing as it's so cold...

In Surrey they'd rather spend money on jobs like this.

The lack of grit is a PITA; road gritting & rubbish collection are about all I see back from my Council Tax and this week I've had neither.
