Hi all, Just wondering if anyone's been to see this film yet? I'm hoping to go in the next couple of days. Does it live up to the hype?

I've been wondering that myself - it's actually hard to get an honest review of it, maybe cos the film's divisive in that sense, who knows...

Not been to see it yet, but hope to. Although the reviews I've read so far have been particularly harsh on it. One of the Sunday newspapers I was glancing through in the launderette the other day said it was "the only James Cameron film I haven't been moved by" and described the CGI tribe as like "Smurfs on steroids". The Guardian's review isn't particularly flattering either. I think the common theme in most reviews I've read is that the story is quite weak, and the CGI is not as ground-breaking as we're led to believe in the hype. I'll still be going to see it though, I never trust reviews 100%, I like to make my own mind up about films.

I've now thought about Avatar. I like to believe that a film trailer tries to show a film in its best light in an attempt to entice people in. The trailer makes me angry. I won't be watching Avatar.

German radio called it Pocahontis meets the Smurfs! It is supposed to be a "designed for 3D" film, with the whole thing designed to showcase 3D technology, watching it in 2D is like watching snooker on a black and white telly I'm still undecided about whether I want to bother seeing it or not. The previews certainly haven't done anything to wet my apetite...

BUGGER! I didnt end up going. The missus has a nasty cold (was just a cough in the morning and got worse) so that was that. Might have to wait until after the new year.

I saw it on Sunday night in 3D, CGI was the best I had ever seen. Really good use of 3D not stupid things popping out of the screen. The plot is sound and the story is good at the start and end but weak in the middle. I would give it 8/10. Worth seeing but no world beater. Hobgob. P.S. Its not just one for the lads. I went with the GF and two friends, both the girls loved the film.
