This morning I ran out of beer, though in my kitchen I had large units where crates of beer could be stored, I pulled out a new crate, opened a bottle and realised it was the wrong beer, then I woke up.

All of this was good as it meant I remembered to pick up my beer from the Purple One's garage and bring it home with me...

Corrected. Though we had two types of lasagna so technically, I had more than one! :geek:

Only in Foreign American English, according to the Firefox spell check. Wikipedia also says that in the proper Italian and British English, both are spelled Lasagne. Of course, maybe they're wrong.

Personally, I'm not sure when you'd use the singular as such. It's a continuous dish like porridge you have portions of, rather than something discrete like eggs which you can count.

Whatever, I've eaten a lot of it this week and it doesn't seem to give me weird dreams. I do get a lot of oddness in my dreams anyway, some of which are like a first person video game or live action film. It's often annoying to be woken up before I find out the ending or finish the level.

*envisions an infinite plane of lasagne*

I won't tell my Italian girlfriend what you just wrote. Lasagne is most definitely the plural, ask any Italian.

That said, I'll eat buckets of the stuff - I love it*

*provided it's made with pork, not beef.

I'd say it's plural because it's pretty much impossible to just eat one :D.

i.e. it is in fact plural because lasagna refers to a single sheet of pasta. Unless you basically eat one sheet of pasta with meat & cheese, you're eating lasange, not lasagna. The same way your always eat spaghetti in the plural. The same way we have fish and chips, not fish and chip.

I've had some weird ones recently but I can't remember them now, and they only seem to happen when I'm in that state of half knowing I'm in a dream...

Why did no one tell me I had spelt weird incorrectly? It was only by looking at the thread title that I realised something was wrong (if a word looks right, it most likely has the correct spelling).

That's pretty much what I meant when I said it was a continuous material and not discrete objects. You have "some", not "one or two", so there is rarely need of a singular term.

What the correct grammar in Italian is, I'm not qualified to say but I did look it up. Going by the Italian entry in Wiki, I think what I said seems sensible:

"Con il termine lasagne, o, raramente, al singolare lasagna . . ."

That is, the singular in Italian is indeed lasagna but it's rarely used. If it's rarely used over there and never used over here, I'll continue writing "lasagne".

Because it doesn't really matter, unless someone else starts off about it

I have some very odd dreams. I often remember parts of them and it frustrates me that they don't make more sense or I can't remember them all. I've been finding alcohol has been increasing the 'weirdness' of them recently.

I have some that make sense, but some that just seem completely random, I guess my brain got the idea from somewhere.

Quite often my dreams stress me out, and I'll grind my teeth when I'm sleeping or wake up feeling angry.

OK weird dream last night...

I'm walking around Beach Road at home and I find a miniature poodle lost with no collar on (For all intents and purposes this is a clone of our last dog, but is white instead of apricot). Since it seems to be lost I'm desperately asking everyone I can find if they know whose dog it might be. Anyway I eventually get to the newsagent near my house (the owner knows a lot about dogs and knows a lot of local dog owners so I figure she might know whose dog it is) and after I ask suddenly the dog has a collar. The dog is called "Storm" and when we looked to see where he was from all it said was "afar".

So I go downstairs to tell my parents of this dream, and then they tell me yesterday was three years to the day from when we had Kyle put down. :(

Subconscious FTMFW! :x
