Hey people. I'd just like to say, what an utterly sh*t move on Dennis' part. That is all. Other than that, This shall be mah new haunt. Catch you on the flip-flop.

Totally agree. I think they've really shot themselves in the foot on this one. In a lot of ways, it's a good thing they've done - we've now got what we've been wanting for ages - a nice shiny new forum, where everything works, tech support is immediate and page loads are almost instant. Shame they're not hosting it.

Perhaps there is, but please try to moderate language. Let's play nicely.

Agreed. Don't forget this forum is run by a large publishing company, and they.... oh, wait. nvm.

Let's also remember that we may not find Dennis Publishing flavour of the month right now, but we have to be careful not to upset their lawyers.

Yay!! Censorship Do as JJ does and create a system where every swear word is replaced in the post by the words "fluffy kitten." I sometimes find myself typing "fluffy kitten" instead of the swear word just for fun

Swearing is neither big or clever but it can be funny - soddit's example for example! Can phpBB have the option to have censoring user preferential? I don't really care either way, I can quite happily limit running my filthy as fudge mouth when typing (words just don't deliver it in the same way so typing them out just seems childish).

User Control Panel -> Board Preferences -> Edit Display Properties -> Enable Word Censoring.
Rather sad I know that off by heart. phpBB freak anyone?

I think I'd prefer that option. Of course, if we find it hard to moderate our language, then it'll have to done from the top.

i go away for a few days and everything goes to hell...
CPC moves to the BitTech forums which I'm still undecided on
the meeting place closes [BOOOOOOO!!!]
i agree with everyone on the 'silly move Dennis' front even if i can see why they've done it [sort of... with one eye closed... from a weird angle]

I miss those huge Dell and HP adverts that block the screen off so you can't read anything.

I've sent them a nicely worded email (i.e. no ranting or swearing, etc...) just letting them know of what they have done and how it will affect their website and the support that people get from the website.
I doubt they will care though.
Just a question though. If they were to join the Meeting Place up as some sort of giant hub between various different websites, would you go back?
