It's actually that Rusty spends far too much time typing in German and so automatically types "ie" for the English "ee" sound.

I have the exact same problem. Working all day in German and using English forums, I keep mixing words up. Worse was talking to my mum earlier this year, she stopped me after 30 seconds, because she hadn't understood a single word! I'd been talking German to her!

I had a fun night out with my girlfriend and a mate and his wife, he was over from Italy. His wife spoke Italian, he spoke Italian and English, I spoke English and German and my girlfriend only speaks German... By the end of the evening, we were getting very confused, with he and I speaking English with our partners and German and Italian to each other!


It isn't, it is disgusting!

My fiancee does the same also. Best of all is when she gets neurotic when she can't remember a German or English word in the other language and can't sleep until she's looked it up!
