Keep me updated.
There's no snow in Kingston but I work in Farnham

There are now a couple of inches in Godalming and it's still snowing.

I'm meant to be there tomorrow afternoon, looks like that appointment may be cancelled

I am absolutely gutted that the year I decide to leave is the year some good snow decides to hammer it down.

Admittedly I had a couple of days off last year as the road that connects my village to the next town was blocked, but it was nothing like what's being described at the moment.

To make it worse it hasn't even been that sunny here recently, I'm in jeans and a hoody at the moment. Although I'm told it could reach around 35 in the coming months, which I'm not looking forward to.

I'm actually rather glad that you're not here... one less person to worry about in this god awful weather. Seriously, I'm not look forward to going to work tomorrow.

The main entrance at the office has been closed, we have to use the side door, because of 1M long "Eiszapfen" or icicles hanging from the guttering about 50 foot over head!

At home, they stretch almost from the gutter to the ground (I live in a 1st floor flat with a 1st floor entrance, so the gutter is only about 7' off the ground ;) ).

It snowed again last night, but only lightly, we got about 1cm more (unswept areas are under about half a metre).

Drive to work was longer than usual, people driving too slowly :( Causes more danger than when they drive at sensible speeds, because a lot of people seem to get frustrated and drive too close. The roads were good for about 50mph, but the person at the front was doing about 20mph! Made up some time on the dual carriageway.

Heating engineer didn't turn up last night, he is now supposed to be coming today... I hope so, Tina's oldest brother wants to start on the niches behind the radiators that were(n't) removed yesterday! He was supposed to remove 4 radiators and replace the thermostats on the rest, and then Manfred could put insulation in the niches and seal them up with plasterboard and have everything finished for Friday, when he was supposed to come back and plumb in 3 new radiators... I hope it will still work out! :?

With extreme cold conditions, I don't really like having the heating switched off!

I was going to use my Sister's house at Wycombe as a base camp to get to Stansted, luckily I decide against it on the risk of getting snowed in there. She lives in Downley which is cut off quite easily. Time to recheck the other options I have.

It's that sort of thing, hard winters and power cuts that lead to mini baby booms. ;)

Unfortunately, she lives in her flat, with her kids, and I live in my flat, we are moving in together - once the renovations are complete... Thin walls and a glass bedroom door don't allow for a lot of freedom at her place!

a wise decision …

i was behind a car on friday of last week and it hit a pothole
the front nearside suspension collapsed and the car came to a grinding halt

after helping the bloke we measured the depth of the pot hole, only a mere 9"

the roads are falling apart
my next vehicle is a small 4x4, end of story …

Most irritatingly, Exeter has finally been hit with Snow. This doesn't stop me getting to work (I walk), but does mean that there will be fewer people in, and more of the general public at home both breaking their laptops and wondering why a courier cannot reach them in 3 feet of snow...

Does anyone remember back at the start of last year when the Met Office predicted a "barbecue summer"?

That didn't quite work, did it.

Not so long ago, the Met Office predicted a mild and wet winter...

Do we detect a pattern developing?

I think you're right there. I just went out and it's over ankle height and it's just started again. Nearly time for a snow man methinks. 8-)
