When all you have to eat for lunch is salad and cuppa soup when you really fancy a huge sandwich but you don't have any cash on you to buy one?

Or when you haven't brought any lunch in and the company canteen is operating a massively reduced service? Or Canon announces a new (and thus more expensive) version of a lens you're lusting after. Yes the old one will be as good as it's always been, but it will no longer be the best.

or when you're stuck at home wondering if you should eat the sandwiches you made last night for lunch (in fridge), cook something else, go to the pub or grab something from the 7 different takeaways with 5 mins walk

Don't you just hate it when you can't stick to your "diet".

I've had 6 slices of wholemeal toast today. Two Marmite, one butter, one marmalade and two with melted cheese, tomato, olives and ham.

And now I'm hungry. I really fancy a little bit of toast

Eating bread is the worse thing for a diet and will only made you more hungry. I completely avoid carbs during the day and I've noticed a big difference. No more bloated tummy and no feeling sleepy about 3pm.

Try eating fruit and veg and protien and see how you get on. If you really want something 'bready' try a wrap or pitta bread. Pitta is rather nice when used for sandwiches.

This is not far off my plan. Unfortunately, at the moment I pretty much only have bread and cheese in the house:

I need to lose a few pounds. The only diet I ever did that worked was to cut out bread; I have a real weakness for snacking on toast. On a bad day, I can get through half a loaf.

I'm also going to cut down on the dairy this time, although I'm going to finish the 5 types of cheese and yoghurt in the fridge first.

Bread and cheese is such a darned convenient food though, which is what makes it hard, but then making it less convenient to eat is probably part of why it worked before. I foresee much rolling of sushi...

Know the feeling, we're trawling through the freezer to see what food we can make cheaply until January pay day comes round. Noodles and cous cous are a good low fat alternative to potatoes and very cheap! Handy to keep in the cupboard.

Good luck and shout if you need a bit of encouragement when you do start the diet.
