Just did a quote on Esure for my 1.4 Polo. They want £656.69
That is with 9 years NCB and no points and up to 6000 miles a year

This coming year I will be paying £360 with Endsleigh. Got them down from £400. Couldn't get anything significantly cheaper for the same excess.

That is truly scary. Can you not get a better quote anywhere?

I mean, I complain if my insurance, fully comp with a £200 excess and named driver goes over £150.

HK: Who is your insurer? I really couldn't get anything cheaper.

It is parked in my parking space behind the block of flats I live in. I live in a square and my parking area is off that. It is a very quiet place. In NW London.

Part of Admiral.

Have you tried the comparison sites at all? I know the GoCompare ads are annoying, but I've signed up to Confused.com as well, and they both come back with pretty good quotes. Sometimes you can then haggle a better deal by talking to an insurer directly from the comparison site.

I know insurance is a right royal PITA, and I hate it every year with a vengeance, but it does pay to spend a couple of hours researching what's out there.

Good luck, too!

Are you a test pilot or similar? It's possible the profession you're listing is affecting your premium. IT people are notorious for making cars erupt into flames.

Prof, that kind of makes a mockery of a no claims bonus, then.

If I had my way, insurance companies would be lined up against the wall and shot. Except they're not worth wasting the bullets on. :? :D

That is a hang over from the 80s... Computer engineers and programmers were hard to find, so we were head hunted and got offered an XR3i by one company, the next would up it to a Cosworth, then a Porsche etc. mix that with staring at a monitor for 18 hours a day and some people had problems focusing on distance and concentrating generally and wrapped their new Porsche Cosworth 3i around the nearest lamppost... :?

New driver.

also male and under 25 I'd guess

Indeed.

I drive a truly fantastic car - Pierre the beefy 1.1 1995 Peugeot 106.

If I can get a year's NCB and work hard over summer I'm planning to upgrade to something a little newer in September/October so I can get all the mod-cons. :D

Looked at Confused.com, Compare The Market and Go Compare, though like Prof and Big D posted, it could be my profession that is raising the premium.

10 years no claims here. I pay around 900€ fully comp for my Mondeo TDCi (130ps, 6speed model), which saved me around 40% over my previous insurer.

When I first moved here, I was paying nearly 2K for a 1997 Ford Mondeo V6. The TDCi, whilst quicker, dropped the premium a bit.

Insurance here is a lot more expensive than the UK (I was paying 75UKP for my BMW M535i and 250UKP for my BMW 528 before I left.

I was originally "weighted" for being an "Auslander" (foreigner), especially English - brought up driving on the "wrong" side of the road!

Google has failed me. Anyone know where you can find a full list of risks to see what order they are in. I've found a few tools, but they only show similar ones to one you type in.

Well, a small update for you...

Within the past hour my wife had her courtesy car delivered to her. The company sent two chaps up from Manchester in TWO cars, dropped one off and paired up for the journey home  I reckon £50 per car for fuel, per journey, so that's £300 in total and almost two thousand miles on the clock of each car plus the mens wages. I'm pretty sure I could get a better deal from the local garage :?
