Might have to pick up the electrician in a bit, he is supposed to finish re-wiring the kitchen today, but it has started snowing and his parents haven't bothered to get winter tyres! Idiots!!

We managed to get out to the deserted supermarket this morning, and we took our neighbour along to pick up provisions. We're probably okay now until the middle of next week. Bread and milk were in short supply, but plenty of other stuff available.

Luckily, I can work from home, so I don't need to travel.

I'm bored with the snow now. That said, once out of our road it's pretty safe to drive almost anywhere.

Still loving the snow - it's much cheerier than the standard monotonous rainy winter crap that we usually get here.

Snow FTW!

Had some more snow last night as I think I mentioned in my FPOTD. On my way into town this morning it also looked suspiciously like parts of the river Nene were starting to freeze (there was a lot of ice floating around in it).

Upstream (where we pronounce Nene to rhyme with ten) there is ice forming all down the south side, as my grainy phone picture almost completely fails to show!

I like the way you mentioned upstream, as it doesn't look much like a river. :P

We (the family) have just been out on the local moors in temperatures down to -6.5C We wanted to find some really picturesque views, but the problem was actually safely parking anywhere to photograph them. In one place, the ploughed snow at the side of the road must have been around 4ft deep and there's no way to be sure that there isn't a ditch under it all.

We were going to a remote location with ample parking, trees, a reservoir and slopes, but we couldn't get to it. As we turned into the access road, there was a Land-Rover stuck in a ditch on the road. We decided not to bother. :(

We found a safe place to park and went for a short walk, but it wasn't much fun and the snow has dried to the point that it is difficult to make decent snowballs. We went body-bagging down a small slope, which is like bin-bagging but with a slightly different sort of bag, which I am glad to say has never been used.

More snow is forecast for tomorrow and it makes me wonder if the schools are likely to open before Spring

That brings back great memories we used to use survival bags to slide down the glaciers in Iceland. Brilliant fun ( 30 plus years ago ) . :D 8-)

May I be the first to mention that maybe you should be stocking up on waders and sealable plastic tubs.
Where is all that water going to go when it starts to melt??????

dont want to be a spoilsport but I only had rain and it filled the cellar ,cost me 60 € for a pump.    ;)
