Very underhand, but sometimes you have to deal with them on their own terms.

If I was dealing with the wife on her own terms I'd have to go out and buy the camera and then give her a call and drop it into the conversation...

"Hi honey, you OK? Oh by the way, I bought that camera. Hello...? Hello...?" :etc:

But I'm too nice to try that one, even though that's what she did when she bought her last car... and booked our last holiday...

Do what I did with the new Sigma lens - convince her it will somehow be of benefit to her. Works a charm! She even paid for it

No, not got it yet, and I might now have to wait until some of the money comes through from my dads estate, as the boss lady seems to have gone off the idea... even though she still says I can have one.

Can anyone tell me if a 500D is just a 450D that also shoots HD vid ? Am saving up to get one, don't need HD capability, have an HD camera already.

450D - 12.2MP.

500D - 15.1MP.

I think (I am no expert) that's the only difference, I believe the image processor is different in the 500D allowing the additional MP but that would need checking with someone else.
