We made a really nice (non)macaroni cheese last night. It seems yesterday was World Pasta Day.

I cooked "crispy pigeon with a sweet and sour dipping sauce" from Jamie at home the other night and it was lovely. I had to use breasts rather than the whole bird, but still good. I'm currently cooking Nigel Slater's Thai green curry. I've cooked it a few times before, so I've upgraded the chillis to fingers and left the seeds in.

I made pizza yesterday, and I was extremely happy with it.
Base: 400g strong white, 200g plain, 100g strong brown flour 15ml extra virgin olive oil, 15ml sunflower oil 400g hot water 5g salt 1 sachet dried yeast. Mix, need well and leave to rise until doubled. I need by folding 20 times, which stretches the gluten by a factor of over one million. My house is cold, so it took 3 hours to rise.
Sauce: 1 onion, 4 cloves garlic, 1 tin tomatoes, 2 table spoons of Italian mixed dried herbs, plenty of fresh ground pepper. Sauté the onions and garlic. My tomatoes were rather chunky, so I blended everything for a few seconds together. Simmer until nice and thick.
Toppings: Sliced mozzarella, I use the 50p "I can't believe it's not buffalo" version, which is fine. Grated strong cheddar sliced mushrooms, olives, red and green peppers sliced "on the vine" tomatoes; they need to be tasty or don't bother Finely sliced raw chicken breast marinaded in yoghurt, garlic, tomato pureé and spices
Knock back the dough and mould onto several baking sheets greased with olive oil, so it's just 4mm thick. Place in a warm place until it doubles, then par-bake for 5 minutes.
Spread the sauce very thinly to the edge, and "decorate" the bases with the different toppings. Finally, sprinkle on the cheddar. Don't over do it, but do make sure it goes to the edge.
Bake for maybe 10 minutes until crispy and lightly browned.
Eat.

If you want to do a quick Pizza you can use pitta bread as a base. Put on your toppings with some garlic and drizzle oliver oil then bake. Taken from Gary Rhodes fast food recipe book: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Great-Fast-Food ... 824&sr=1-8

Om nom nom. I'm weird in that I like Toad in the hole with just baked beans. My wife likes it with mash and onion gravy.
