Greatest ever (non-computer) game
There have been 76 nominations. All games using playing cards (52) have been listed under one entry.
The groups for the heats have been randomly selected by Excel, so if all your favourites are in one heat.... tough. Round 1 will have groups of 5 or 6 in each heat. Round one is purely to sort the wheat from the chaff. You get two votes each and the top three go through. If you only want to use one vote (or none for that matter) you can. In future rounds you'll only get one vote.

Diamant is the best game here by far, but it's very hard to get in the UK. My mate who has it got it from Germany. My other vote goes to Mahjong.

I only submitted a vote for Mahjong as I've not heard of any of the others.

I only voted for Mahjong, because I believe it to be an excellent game. I don't actually understand the rules properly, much less the strategy, but after watching 24 episodes of Saki it's hard not to be infected by the enthusiasm. I've only ever actually played the computerised solitaire version; which is like Klondike compared to Whist. Same cards; different game entirely.

Mahjong and Happy Families for me. Never heard of the rest.
Grrr! It didn't let me add a vote for Happy Families, I suddenly remembered it, after putting in vote for Mahjong...

Hotel and Happy Families for me. Hotel is probably my favourite board game ever. Though I only used to play it at a friend's house and I haven't played it since 1987, so it might not be as great as I remember.

Only voted for Mahjong. Apart from Happy Families I haven't heard of the rest and I didn't want to bother voting for HF.
Anyway, Mahjong rocks. If only I could work out how the scoring works with the little sticks we might have a proper game when I'm up at the parents. Wriggly Snake FTW
