Only because I happen to know our local village hall has been booked for the local elections, and it would be daft and expensive to hold a general at another time...

+1

The March budget will be a "steady as she goes" budget, and then whoever wins be it Labour or Tories there'll be a new emergency budget coming in May.

Write on Winston Churchill as a candidate. I think I'll do that the next time there's electioneering over here. (8+)

Winston Churchill isn’t the best example of a politician. He managed to hang onto the job for the duration of WWII, but before that he was a member of Labour, Liberals and the Conservatives. He make a complete cock-up of things when he was in charge of the Admiralty, and he didn’t fare too well after WWII.

My grandma used to write “Socialism” on her ballot papers. I don’t know if she still does, but she’s been a pretty militant person politically during her life.

If Labour had got in you wouldn't even be in the United Kingdom now, you'd be in the ROI.

Other parties are available to fill the Lifted bitch lifting (both up the arse and any other way) roles in order to restore the political balance.
This present shower have right royally rogered everyone but the banks this time round.

you shouldn't complain. If you're not happy with the party in power but you don't vote, it's partly you're fault they are there in the first place!

I don't think it matters really.
Politicians say one thing to get your vote and then change that once they get in to power, so everything they stood for and that you voted for doesn't mean a thing to them really.
That's not cynicism, it's fact.
