Damn near anywhere I've gotten into a bad habit of reading or watching things while I'm eating, wherever I am... Supposedly that means you aren't likely chewing your food enough

Let me see now.
My house is an old terrace with the two downstairs rooms knocked together into a single room that runs the length of the main bit of the house (with the kitchen and bathroom off the back). I have a dining table towards the back half of the room so if it's not covered in papers and the like I'll mainly eat there. If it is covered in papers then it's on my lap in front of the TV (which I can watch from the table anyway). Very rarely I'll have food when I'm sitting at my computer (which is in the same room as the table and TV anyway).
Back at the parents we mostly eat as a family at the kitchen table. If there are family or other visitors then it's usually at the dining room table.

I often eat alone, so I usually do it in front of the TV/PC.

Ok, let's clear this up for once and for all... the meal you have in the middle of the day is called LUNCH! OK...? OK!
@Al, you mentioned that your kids are slow eaters... I am a notoriously slow eater, and I always say that firstly as long as I'm enjoying what I'm eating who the hell cares how long it takes me... it's not a race for goodness sake! lol Oh, and I've also made it to 41 and have only ever endured indigestion twice...
I'm not having a go, just trying to explain that, (as I'm sure you know) the fact that they are eating what they are given, (as opposed to my kids, 2 out of 3 of whom are fussy little gits) is a good thing and the fact that you have "together time" is a good thing.
PS. I voted on my lap and pie
