I'm hoping that's a relative and not absolute scale?

I mean seriously, Jaws rates 100% but X-Men only rates about 55% ? That can not be on the same scale!

I'd say that was absolute.

The Star Wars films I’ve never been that fussed on; they’re neither good nor bad IMO and the hype somehow passed me by…

The Star Trek films I’ve never seen.

X-Men I agree with, but I would give the third film a slightly higher rating there.

Mad Max I can barely remember and would like to see them again before Fury Road turns up.

Die Hard 1 is a classic, 2 isn’t bad by any means but should probably have a slightly lower rating to reflect the sheer greatness of the first ;) , the third did very little for me.

The Godfather films I’d need to watch from the start again, as they’ve been, watching-wise, jumbled for me…

Rambo I’d probably agree with there.

Indiana Jones, again, jumbled, and I somehow have always missed seeing them the whole way through on TV.

Superman, never really took an interest in the films despite being a comics geek these days…

Jaws is outstanding, but never had any desire to watch the sequels.

Blade 1, say 85%, 2 75%, 3 60% at best.

Rocky I barely care about, just not into boxing, though the first film seemed well told from what I watched of it.

Batman the ratings should be a bit higher there, even for the third one (it’s not the worst Batman flick you’ve seen by a long shot ;) )

The original Matrix is so good I’ve decided I’ll probably never bother with what most people consider the shoddy sequels, but we’ll see.

Jurassic Park 1 was just ‘meh’ for me, 2 was a rush-job load of sh1te, 3 I never bothered with.

Lord of the Rings I’d need to start over with again as I’ve completely forgotten what I saw of the first one…

Back To the Future, I thought the third one was the weakest.

Planet of the Apes I haven’t seen enough of to comment.

Terminator 1 should be slightly higher there, agree with 2’s position, 3 is the stuff of my nightmares…

Alien 1 I’d give a slightly lower score there, maybe, 2’s just brill, 3 I’d give a slightly higher score there actually.

I'm treating it as relative, because there's no way I'd give The Godfather the same rating as Star Wars. In fact The Godfather would probably be on the same rating as the third instalment of that trilogy in my opinion.

So, treating it on a relative scale :
Star Wars is about right.
Indy I'd swap the first with either of the other two.
The Matrix is a little too harsh on the second one I think.

After a little deliberation I'd agree with Star Trek.
I would halve the white space for Superman 2.
Only ever seen the first Jurassic Park, so can't rate that trilogy.

X-Men, Spider-Man and Lord of the Rings are all fair enough I think.

Mad Max was a very different film to all those that came after it and I feel it's been treated a little harshly with that rating.
I'd swap the ratings for Jaws and Back to the Future, but otherwise agree with the rest of those ratings.

Die Hard 3 could do with a bit of a reduction, otherwise okay.
Blade is about right.
The first Planet of the Apes should be increased probably to the top.

Godfather, see above. The rubishness of the first one means I haven't seen the others in that series.
The first Rocky should halve the white space, otherwise okay.
I'd slightly reduce T2 but otherwise okay.

I quite liked the second Rambo film, so I'd bump that one up a little.
It's funny how Batman 3 is almost universally hated.
I'd reduce the second Alien film by about double the white space of the first film.

No doubt someone will take issue with something I've said here. (8+)

I'm treating it as absolute because if it was relative one film in each trio would have to be at 100%. Here goes:

Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Superman, LotR, Jaws, Back to the Future, Planet of the Apes, Godfather, Rambo all correct

Matrix: Too generous with 2&3 - should both be 0
Star Trek: Twice as high as they should be - Shatner's crap
Jurassic Park: 1st one should be at 25%, others at 0
X-men - should all be 0
Spiderman - Should all be 0
Mad Max - 1st should be at 90%, 2nd at 80%, 3rd at 40%
Die Hard - 3rd one should be at 60%
Blade - Too generous all round - scale by 0.71
Rocky - 1st one is correct, 2&3 should be at 40-50%
Terminator - 1st should be 100%, 2nd should be 95%, 3rd is too generous
Batman - Should all be at the same level as 3
Alien - 3rd is too generous

It might be correct if the scale were logarithmic

Alien and Aliens are tricky to compare as they are two very different films. Scott made a haunted house in space film, Cameron’s approach was to build a roller coaster because he knew that everyone knew the surprise and to re-do it would be foolish. I find it hard to compare two very different films because the approaches were so varied. Other trilogies are built from the same material and can be fairly compared. The Alien sequence is harder to define. Even David Fincher’s Alien 3 works if you watch the version in the Quadrilogy box set, despite being ruined largely by studio execs.

Star Wars : All a little too generous though the relative merit is OK.
Indy: The third film is awful so I'd only give it a thin sliver of blue.
Matrix: I thought the third was an improvement on the second so I'd bump it a bit higher.
Jurassic Park: Ratings a bit low all round here.
Mad Max: Third film needs to be lowered a bit, the only good bits were borrowed from Mad Max 2.
Jaws: Third film better than the second? No way!

The rest I either basically agree with or haven't seen.

All that said, Alien is a better film than Aliens.

IME:

Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Star Trek and Superman are all about right.

I really enjoyed the second Matrix although the third was a bit hard work I liked the way it all finished off.
LotR should all be at 100% as far as I'm concerned. I loved the books and the films truly did them justice.
I haven't seen them in a while but I remember 1 and 3 being my favourite X-Men films.
Mad Max 3 was my favourite, but they're all good.
I've only ever seen the first Jaws film and it was good, but I can't say I'd rate it as highly as the meter has.
Back to the Future was just light-hearted and tons of fun, I liked them all.
Blade was brilliant, but both sequels were average at best.
I really enjoyed all 3 Terminator films as well, I'd put them about where Mad Max is rated.
Alien and Batman should both be rated where Die Hard is and Die Hard is about right.
Jurassic Park 1 & 2 should be higher but 3 was a stretch.
I only ever saw Spiderman 1, couldn't be bothered with those sequels.

I've never seen Godfather, Rocky or Rambo so I can't comment.

Things that need changing:
Star Trek - 1 deserve a lot less than that, it was pants.
Back to the future - 2 was terrible, 3 was good, 1 was the best
LOTR: Two Towers should have full marks

Spot on:
The Matrix scores
Die Hard scores
