Right at the bottom of that article there is a mention of Amazon. They saw a 42% increase in sales!

The last quarter has been a phenomenally good excuse for companies to fire people and then give those duties to the remaining employees. It's no surprise that companies are seeing dramatic increases in profits and general turnover.

I don't know if that comment was directed at my post or a comment about the original article, but if it was aimed at my post then I'd like to point out that they didn't report a 42% rise in profits - they reported 42% rise in sales. Firing people doesn't increase sales by 42%!
