I'm really not sure to be honest. a flan doesn't have to have eggs / cheese in it. But a quiche does ?

So Quiche is a subset of Flan then? ABF (anything but Flan)

Other than the fact that they both have a pastry base they are unrelated with Quiche tending to be savoury whilst Flans fruity sweet.
