Thought i'd post this here as most users are here.

My brother disabled my internet and MSN somehow (he's a PC genius)... And now even though he's enabled my internet again, he cba to do the same for my MSN and I can't get onto it. It says there's a problem with the key ports when I use the trouble shooter and when I try to repair the connection in internet connection, it says it can't finish because it can't clear the DNS cache. I've tried entering "ipconfig /flushdns" into a CMD box but it doesn't work either! Please, help me ASAP!

What can she do? I dont know.

It sounds like a firewall issue. Check the Windows firewall by disabling it.

Check the router firewall also. It usually has a "block IM ports" option

Turn off the firewall anyway just to try. If it's updated, it won't be recognised as the same program.

I'd also check the host file for anything odd.

If it's not that, then it probably is the router. Is there a router? Do other PCs in the house have access to MSN? If so, changing her IP address may get around any deliberate block on her.
