MacOS10 has just replied to your post But yes, very quiet. Deathly so.

Well if he did I can't see it. There is some crap about not being able to see everyone's posts isn't there? Does it not depend which portal you come in from? Anyway it sucks. CC

Sorry, my bad. You're quite correct. I was looking at the MacUser forum which only has 3 active threads: http://www.macuser.co.uk/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=3338723 more than the meeting place, whichever portal you use.

Very interesting...... I've just clicked on my old PCP bookmark and it's taken me straight to the 'Magazine Discussion' on Bitch-Tech. Removing bookmark now... Al

Brrrrr. The cold chill on my spine is being suddenly warmed by the welcoming glow of x404, I'm never visting The Meeting Place graveyard again, too many fading memories and long-forgotten dreams.

I did think about visiting the PC Pro version, but the website was giving me grief about my email address being used by another Dennis site, so i gave up.

I've reset my password but I very much doubt I'll be going back. I'll no doubt visit the Macuser news site but that's it.

That's it for me too, I thought I'd be spending some time there when it all came back online, but I don't like the look of bit-tech and TMP is non-existant.

Had a quick look, didn't post.
Reminds me of a favoured old pub that gets shut down quickly due to, alleged, renovations.
A week or so goes by and it just looks the same but with fewer people in it, the others who have now gone and set up their own drinking den.

I really get the feeling that people high up in Dennis made the decision, and those closer to the ground didn’t like it either, but they have to toe the party line about how good it is. If you ask the official Dennis folk to post here, they will skirt the issue and talk up the “security” side of it. I did get a private email from a Dennis person who was in total agreement with my emails. I’m not going to say who (and it was not anyone from Dennis who posts here), or publish the text of the message as it is private and not intended for wider circulation. The gist of the email was that he agreed with me - and obviously he was not happy with the way things were going. I hope he was fighting our corner in meetings.
I used to have the MacUser link in the shortcuts bar on my browser. I took it off last night. What’s the point of keeping it there? It invites me to revisit, and really like the afore mentioned pub, you can see it becoing sadder, emptier and more decrepit every day.
x404 is in my shortcuts bar, as is MacFormat now - about which there is a funny story. I will post about that elsewhere.
May I make a request? Let’s stop raking over the old coals. What is done is done. Let’s leave it at that, and chart the future here.

Sure, I will visit the old place for a week or two, if anyone turns up lost I will point them this way. Else it is now at rest as far as I am concerned. I may pop over to the MacUser board once in a while as I still have friends there, and of course the British Mac forum is where I am now spending more time CC
