All of a sudden, my Hackintosh has decided to display a slightly blurry picture on my monitor. It's not too bad, but it's noticable and it hurts your eyes after a bit. It's set at 1280x1024@75hz, just as my Windows PC is, but yet it's blurry. I'm using a VGA cable on the Mac, and a DVI-VGA cable on the PC.

I don't know why this has happened, or how, but it certainly is strange. I've tried resetting the resolution and refresh rate too, to no avail. Weird :/

Hac specs:

3ghz Pentium D
GeForce 7300GT 512mb
2.5gb RAM
160gb SATA drive

Monitor : 20" Sony CPD-420 CRT.

Thanks guys. :D

I've discovered what was causing the problem.

It seems that the 7300GT graphics card this system has all of a sudden decided that it wants nothing to do with the fan it has. It was still going round, but when I unplugged it (after trying everything) the screen went back to normal

I've just screwed a 80mm case fan onto the heatsink now, and it seems to be working fine.

It's a Mac, they should just work (TM)! :P

Mark

Does that mean that the 27" iMacs are only pretending?

Yes, but it's also a PC, which means it won't.

It’s certainly not a proper Mac. I could put diesel in my car, but ...

Why do all you Macolites get so pissed off at me when I say the words "hackintosh"? I've never understood that. :/

It's only an OS after all. I don't care for underpowered and hugely overpowered hardware to be honest, but I do like the OS quite much.

BTW, my PC works fine Jon. Actually, it works quite a lot better than my G4 Powermac does.

Did you all miss the :P at the end of the "Macs just work" sentance? I was using it in jest.

Anyway, it's fixed now.

How can I put this...

If I take my car, paint it red and then put a Ferrari badge on the front, is it then a Ferrari?

No, and when ever did I call my hackintosh a fully-blown, same-as-a-shop-bought Mac? I don't think I did, did I?

Oh, I tell a lie. I did when I used the Macs just work jesty thing. Which isn't funny to you guys.

:(

Seriously, it was funny about the first... 50 times. The next 150 or so we kind of tolerated it. These days....

It is the same as going to a Windows forum and saying "I have an illegal copy of Windows and it doesn't work properly on my machine." You'll generally get short shrift from them as well

You are trying to something which you aren't allowed to do and then complaining when it doesn't work as you expected.

Actually what he's doing is conflagrating two completely unrelated facts (his video card fan popped, he's running Mac OS) together for no good reason and then using it as an excuse to troll the mac forum.
