Well I'm running 60k plus page views per day on 2xdual core box's that are idling along. Only 2 of them for resilience.

So I'd guess a hell of allot less than that.

Got a bit hairy when it hit 600k plus in a day recently.

It hasn't had to cope with a 24-hour thread yet

24 hour threads shouldn't be an issue as it spread out. The problem is the peeks.

Think a major corporate / news / political announcement when everybody in the world wants the information fast and you go from 100 concurrent users to 1 million in under 2 minutes. That's what kills the servers. ( 3 x quad cores delivers that by the way no sweat )

No, but it does need PIE!

Actually, Saspro, if you don't mind me asking, how have you managed to get this site up? IIRC you said something about it running at your work?

I have a rack of servers in a datacentre in the states hosting websites.

I hardly ever use mine now that I live with My Mister, we used to chat most evenings when I lived in Notts, but now I only remember it's even on there when one of those annoying mesasge reminder thingies goes *bing*

As with most, I don't use it much these days.
