Hi, My brother has had a website of some sort for about the past 6 years (he's 14). It started off very simple and a bit all over the place. Since then he's gone through a few different styles etc and has ended up on this... http://www.technolico.usI know I'm biassed with it being my little brother but could you please give your opinions on the site? I ask this because my cousin has started a branch company for a cricket coaching business and refuses to pay for a website to be made and so wants to write it himself. The only thing is he doesn't seem to want to put any time in to learning how to do it. I put Joomla on his hosting site and set up the database and left it to him to mess around. (I don't do web design) but it made me realise how hard it is to get something that looks like my brother's site.

Does he write all the reviews himself?

I've just had a quick visit and read the review of the HTC HD2. It's not garishly coloured, and the navigation looks simple enough. There is more I could say, (all good!) but I've just joined a 'phone conference, so I have to pay attention I approve of this website.

There are some glaring factual errors, but the website looks nice and clean.

Nice but he does need to tidy his code up css and html errors. But no worse than most.

I noticed some of the factual errors when reading through it just now. I think I'll put it down to poetic (read - ranting) license

Great site. I notice it's WordPress rather than Joomla. I was going to suggest your cousin might be better off using that rather than Joomla as it's a bit easier to use.

I find Joomla! quite agreeable personally. Although Wordpress is excellent too.

I haven't really looked into Joomla too much. I installed it, then started looking at it and couldn't really work it out, I would need to have "read the instructions", whereas with Wordpress, I could just jump straight in and start using it. If I was to build a site with a lot of CMS, I would use Joomla, but I'd need to go through the manuals. If you want to add a blog to an existing static site, I highly recommend this link.

Did your brother use a template? Or did he create the template himself?

Not sure. I think he used a template and then spent ages customising it and creating logos for it, etc...
