OK, my bad, I must have read the wrong context into it.

I think you underestimate your normality.

He still hasn't answered my question why. I read Matts reply and I kind of understand that reason, but it would be nice to hear it from him regardless. Other than when I first got my camera and I was shooting TIFF images I don't think I've ever shot in JPEG other than when I was shooting the time lapse footage because the images needed importing in to a video editing program. Nope, I think you may be overestimating his normality. :etc:

I disagree. Why does Bratty think he has a monopoly on not being normal? Who's to say what "normal" actually is? I doubt any of us is actually "normal", because we're all different. I was just kind of making a point that Bratty always plays the "I'm not normal, but you are" card, when it doesn't really mean anything in the real world.

I agree Mark. I shot jpeg in the early days because I got gazillions of pics on one card - I just couldn't limit myself to a tenth of the pics by shooting RAW. Then there was the nause of converting them Then somebody showed me how much could be saved in post processing by shooting in RAW (early days and I was not very good still). Even then I struggled to get round the idea of storage on my 1Gb cards. I do shoot jpeg now - mainly for work and snaps of the family. My old Sony Alpha A100 is firmly in the hands of the kids and I let them use it without restrictions so it's jpeg for them. I suspect David, being the social photographer that he is, shoots in jpeg because it's easier to pass on unprocessed pics (or processed in the camera). Either that or he can't be ar$ed Al

I get what you're saying, and I have to agree with you, (the smilies indicate that I was joking) but even if none of us are normal, you'd have to admit that Bratty is slightly more "not normal" than the rest of us! :etc: <-- smilies to indicate that I am joking. Again

I shoot both jpeg and RAW, mostly in RAW nowadays though, but if the lighting and subjects good enough that id guess that needs no editing whatsoever etc ill just shoot in jpeg but If I see a rare pic that may seem really worthy then RAW it is

I'll use the definition used in Optics. Normal then would mean at right angles to everyone else.
