What's the rumours on the next iPhone handset upgrade?
I'm contemplating upgrading to a 3Gs but I can hold off if the rumours are compelling enough.

spurious date picked from teh sky will be a july release.
Though in 48 hours I will be officially at the end of my contract and O2 has yet to contact me. Maybe they dont my custom?

The new one should be due June/July time.
I'm just about to go out of contract as well. Might give O2 a call to see if they can reduce my line rental a bit (as I don't need to subsidise the handset)

My o2 contract ends 31st Jan.

They've been pretty good apart from the occasional data outage.

They're just too expensive now though.

Phone up & talk to cancellations (see the story in the news forum). I've got my bill down to £20 a month (with more texts than before) on iphone simplicity. Should keep me going until the next handset it out.

Yeah they offered me that but I just asked for a PAC code - wanted to move to Tesco.

I went in yesterday and they said they don't do iPhone SIMs on their own, only sold with the phone and that a normal Tesco SIM won't work. I'm not sure I believe her, but she said she had had people coming back cos their phones weren't working.

A bit of research is needed once I've got my assignments out of the way I think!

I was on the 'phone with o2 this evening (15 minutes on hold FTL!) but I was told that there's definitely going to be an iPhone 4G out in the summer. (8+)

More news on what's likely to be announced next Monday at the WWDC from Apple Insider.
As much as I'm a proponent of "believe nothing until Apple announces it" it really does appear to be the next gen. iPhone.
All will be revealed in just a few days time.

I saw a rumour that the final handset could even be completely different. They may revert to a earlier design with nearly all the same components but different case. As Timark says I will not take anything as gospel until it has been announced by Apple. My biggest dilemma is will I get a white case or black case?

Even if it gets announced next week it may not be available straight away. IIRC it tends to be a few weeks after announcement that each model gets launched 'internationally'. Luckily my current contract runs out on August 1st .

I am actually looking at Tesco to use as the network. They piggyback off O2 so I know that they have good coverage where I want to use it.
