Not as far as VAT is concerned, no.

They're supposed to list their registered office address and company registration number though. Is that there? (And if it is, let me know the number and I'll look it up ;) ).

No registration number (what a surprise)

Reported it to Consumer Direct, MK Council had no idea about the rates for council tax etc

HM Revenue were highly suspicious when I mentioned the home address and selling imported games

It only started when I left him neutral feedback

It's the fact it was £3 and he was so rude over it makes me want to do this purely out of principle!

Going to report it to play.com later on, trying my best to be civil with the boy (as I doubt he is a man judging by his myspazz)

And yet another rude abusive email.

I don't understand how he thinks abusing someone will encourage them to remove their feedback.

does the product actually work ok? if so then IMO theres no reason to complain, theres a guy on ebay who is selling brutal wrestling vids displayed as proper copies, when you buy them you get burnt dvds in a slip case, they work fine, product nowhere near as described but I am still one very happy customer :)

It's a US game, I haven't tried linking it to my gamertag but will try at some point.

Regardless of if it works or not it's still not described, the feedback was justified and the abuse was not.

Do you want to buy a Ferarri I'm selling? Its actually a red Ford Fiesta (pop plus circa 1989) but its still a car. And red. :D

In all seriousness if I bought a product that wasnt as described then they'd be taking it back. Either officially or in an orifice. Its not on to lie really to make a sale.

Fin - this guy deserves a slap for the abuse. Whether right or wrong, working or not working, he is a 'business' (a term used loosly in his case) and as such should not be abusing customers.

I'm not interested in returning it now, it's worth more for me to keep it in all honesty. I have contacted some people at Rare who will contact the distribution team within MGS to see if they are interested, not to mention Consumer Direct said if it's not a lot don't send it back because of this other action.

It was £3, it really is the principle of it and not being spoken to like that by a company I am choosing to use. I have forwarded ALL of the emails (except the recent one) to play customer services. I honestly think I kept calm and polite for once. He kept saying he was going to report me.... for leaving neutral feedback which was justified,

He mentioned how good a deal it was... 50p more for a UK one on ebay brand new.... such a bargain

I reported some door to door salesmen to trading standards and provided a statement after they wouldn't go away after I told them I wouldn't change energy suppliers. I think the OP is doing the right thing.

If his turnover is under the VAT threshold then he'd be being an idiot for registering as he'd effectively be paying an extra 17.5% tax on all his profits...

Err no, not at all!! :?

It's perfectly possible for a business to claim more VAT back than they declare in sales, and get a refund from the tax man.

Particularly for small businesses, where business assets somehow find themselves in the household.

Even if he doesn't do that, the amount of VAT he pays will still be dependent upon his profit margins.
