Sounds like the patient should go on a course, a course of eating less pie and cake.
The surgeon should be applauded for being so restrained, god I hate fat people.

Bit harsh I imagine the surgeon was especially fed up with this woman. I do see (and I mean people I know in real life) folks make excuses for weight and say diet and exercise isnt for them/not working and surgery is the only way. Its lazyness for a lot of people really though isnt it. I'm no athlete but I'm down the gym working off that Mars Bar I had at lunch

For some their weight could be down to a thyroid problem or because of medication. To label all people because of their size does not take in to account circumstances outside their control. Like John Prescotts love of pies!

If i was him i would have said "have you planned your funeral arrangements yet? because it's coming very soon so you better be ready" and "you're eating yourself to death and i can't do anything for you, sorry"

Um, isn't the word 'diet' the recognised medical term for the whole process?
In which case she can take long walk off a short peir, assuming she doesn't run out of breath half way down it.

Well technically doesn't everyone have 'a diet' just some people have good ones and some people have bad ones. When I've heard the phrase used in medical circles it was more like something along the lines of 'low calorie regime'. I had a doctor once tell me I needed to go on a 'zero caffeine regime'. To which I responded "why don't you just tell me to stop drinking coffee?" I have a feeling she'd have to keep running because if she stopped, it'd give way beneath her. Jon

You can drink decaf coffee Other things have caffeine in, like soft drinks, tea etc.

These days, in the world of medicine, you have to be vey PC. People dont't have husbands or wives - they have "partners".
As for weight loss, irrespective of medication or medical problems, you can lose weight - some people have to work harder than others and it's this hard work most people are afraid of or they are just too damn lazy.

I've never seen scrubs, well, I've seen a couple of minutes and it was a snore fest, been going through some of the Dr. Cox bits, they are funny.
