I think that it might be down to the fact that we are not hot females with slutty attitudes willing to do anything to become an Italian MP! :D

Quote:
The prime minister refused to accept Mr Bertolaso’s resignation, but the pressure on him intensified with the revelations about alleged sexual favours, which were splashed all over the Italian press.

MPs on both sides of politics rallied to Mr Bertolaso’s defence, and the prime minister said that damaging people who were working for the good of Italy had become a "national sport."

A lawyer for Mr Bertolaso, a father of two, said: “This is all a huge misunderstanding that will be sorted out in due course.”

With politics like that, is it any wonder Sil thinks he can do what he likes

Come on he's the don.
It's the kind of politician I think people really want, a politician that just doesn't give a shiny [LIFTED] what the media thinks of him.

He does not have to worry about the media because he can simply fire many of the editors for stepping out of place.

+1, and it's obvious the Italian public do like him otherwise they'd have gotten rid of him long ago, but that just makes me worry about the Italian people, frankly

They probably like the fact that he is a character. Compared to German, French or British politicians he is definitely not dull. Same cant be said of Gordon or Dave.

Thats what I mean why do we accept these milliBLAND politicians who don't have the stones to do anything. Politicians are either: corrupt, interesting and good at thier job or they are Not corrupt, bland and medioka to rubbish at their job.

The media has enforced in this country dictatorship in government whereby the PM gathers around him weak, unorigional and most importantly boring people that have the least backbone possible.
But I suppose everybody is happy with Dave and ed Millibland, harriet Harman, alaister (puppet boy) darling, ed balls under boring brown's control who all bend to the medias will.

Power diagram in this country:
TOP: media
second: brown
third mandelson.
fourth by a long shot: the cabinet.

The leaders like bland people around them because it makes them look better.

The media is too centralised. The newspaper groups need to be broken up and there needs to be a ban on TV and newspapers in the same group. That would curtail the power of the Murdoch, Pearson and Thompson families.

The media needs to be banned from using phrases and words that are rhetorically and emotionally charged Such as "gravy train," "balmy brussels" and other words and phrases of such ilk.

I would disagree, if the politicians are on the gravy train then they should be exposed as such.
