I never say letters on the phone any more, it's always juliet lima mike november etc, comes from having a CID detective for a dad (and geekily memorising the alphabet so i can impress people :))

My Dad does it all the time, as a hangover from his radio officer days.
I just make it up on the spot to annoy him. :lol:

Some people think it's Apple Sugar Freddy and that you have to say S for sugar, like in primary school :) I get a warm glow inside knowing the real phonetic alphabet, i think it's this smug pride in useless facts that sets me apart as a geek, rather than the knowledge itself.
