Sounds more like something for the Random Sh!t thread I know, but I bought a Mars bar from the vending machine in work around half eleven in the morning at 50p, only to notice later on they had reached 60p in the afternoon when I went to buy one for a friend...

Now, I'm rarely in newsagents or garages so I don't buy sweets etc there, but I know Tesco does a Mars bar for 41p!

I appreciate 60p is a positively saintly price considering some vending machines, but you won't catch me paying it for a chocolate bar that's smaller and doesn't even taste as good as it used to (IMO). They can suck my Double Decker, frankly

So, I'm now irrationally curious about how much a Mars bar costs in your local shop/garage/whatever, and if you think it's worth it. Or do you buy it out of habit anyway?

EVERY chocolate bar in my college costs 60p!
Thanks to lousy private contracted scumabags they got in.
We even had a burger van to compete with the underpices underportioned meals in the canteen and the colloge stuck boulders in the way of the place where it parked.
To stop competition. So now you have to walk a mile to get to a mcdonalds or good shop.

Packed lunch, multipacks, no need to walk miles to save money. Except the college may start charging to use tables.

I stopped at a service station for fuel and food recently. I was over 2 hours from site, and very hungry.

They didn't have any sandwiches for much less than £4 and the chocolate bars and crisps were about £1.20 or 2 for £2 or some such insanity.

I ended up staying hungry for about another 5 hours, when I had an excellent curry.

I'm overweight. I can go for 48 hours or more without food. It's painful, but not as much so as paying stupid prices.

Drink is another issue. I usually have a couple of litres of water in the car with me, but I have been known to pay stupid money for water in order to avoid collapsing from dehydration. I always curse my stupidity for not taking more with me.

I went a week without eating food! I had a high fever, mono and glandular fever at the time, I lost over 30lbs!

I can't remember the last time I bought a Mars. When we were renovating the house, my girlfriend bought a load of pack of fun size bars of various types, but I really don't like Mars these days, they don't taste as good as I remember them.

I think I've bought one Snickers this year and that is it for chocolate.

Depends on how badly I want my chocolate fix. I have paid up to 60p from a petrol station for a bar of chocolate that is not worth more than 35p.

I have been known to pay service station prices, (very rarely) but I always make a point of handing over the exact change whilst, (not as quietly as the wife would like) muttering something about Dick Turpin being hung for less...

I've been trying to stay away from the sweets but the vending machine does various Drifter, Kit Kat, Snickers, etc for between 45-50p. Not bad for a vending machine I guess. I went into the co-op recently and saw some sweets were crazily pricey too.

How much would I pay? Well I guess it would depend on how much I wanted one but from a shop I think anything over 50p feels like too much.

Up until recently the Mars Dark have been sold for 50p or 52p but the local garage has started selling two for 80p which I'm availing myself of every time I pass the garage this week.
Here in work Marathon bars sell for 60p from the canteen and 65p from the vending machines.

Don't complain, i had to change all the price tag of the confectionery section in my shop a few weeks ago, i wasn't happy. Also we sell mars bars at 47p (they used to be 41)
