Erm, yeah but are you really going to fork out over a thousand pounds for a lens that you'll only be able to use the centre part of?
Don't get me wrong, it's your money and totally up to you how to spend it, but in terms of value for money getting the 14-24mm Nikon lens to use on a cropped sensor camera isn't the best.

not sure what all that means? I need a better SLR body by the sounds of it, I reckon you would cringe if you saw my equipment, my nikon 70-200 VR has a big dent at the front which stops me using filters (is this repairable?) my D80 body has dents all over it, the plastic screen thing that you could take off and on is smashed into pieces, the eyepiece rubber plastic thingy has fallen off, plus when you focus you can only focus on the left side of things and not the middle (condensation and rain got into camera)

im great at looking after my kit :)

And you want to put a £1k+ lens on this camera? (8+|
You can buy your self a better camera body and a wide lens and still probably save a bit of cash instead of getting that 14-24mm Nikon lens.
You should work out your needs over your wants.

Random question, Bratty:

Do you want a small lens or a wide lens? Or one that's both? Being f/2.8 I wouldn't imagine either of those you linked to would be small. The first one's wide, if that's what you meant/wanted, whilst the latter is a general purpose lens which you also mentioned. I'm a bit confusled!

I have no idea  I dont want panoramic but Im after a lens that, how to explain this  if Im standing in front of a church for example or a big building, and im quite near it but theres not much room to take a pic of it, my 50mm would only get a bit of the church in but the 17-70mm lens would fit it all in if I were to zoom it all the way back, that type of lens, its a general use one I think, and Im thinking that £500 tamron F2.8 one will do the job nicely?

It's cheaper but the company is Hong Kong based even though it looks more local. Look for some reviews on them before you buy and make sure that Tamron offer international warranties on lenses as it would likely be a grey import.

hmm

THEY WILL AVOID REFUNDS

I ordered a £135 lens from SE a while ago and it arrived on time with no problems. I have since ordered a more expensive lens and this time got no confirmation. I did some research on the company and found that the are not based in the UK and the products are grey imports. Neither of these were or should necessarily be a concern, but I am concerned about having proper back-up if required.

edit: im getting really nasty reviews on that site, I think ill avoid :)

edit: just bought it from warehouse express to be on the safe side

Erm...

How about spending a little in a camera repair shop?

You dont need a paper receipt IIRC. You can prove the purchase in other ways (bank statement, etc).
