^^^At the top, where it says x404.co.uk, I'm gonna use that as the logo. To hell with stamps, permanent marker FTW!

We could put some ads in PCPro and MacUser? Seriously, I was thinking we can all do our bit in terms of word of mouth, putting links in sigs, on websites, blogs, etc. Semi-stupid idea, we could build up a dramatic, emotional story of our destruction and refuge here and sell it to a geek mag? Mags would be an excellent form of advertising, if they are cheap/free (i.e. What could we do for them? Link to their online news articles, etc?) I was thinking about this while nibbling some cheese just now...When you feel you have time, browse other forums for questions with no answers, but that you might be able to answer. Sign up to that forum, and post a reply saying that you just wrote a howto or something on this other forum you frequent, then link them...Rush back here and write out the guidance. Bam! Some one's browsing our site, we have lots of helpful articles so we'll get hit more by Google et al. I guess it depends on what happens to the rest of the site really...

Great posts Tim and Ben, as for the above, we're working on trying to find a proper direction for the site to go in, without putting up direct competition to any of the Dennis sites. If anyone has any further ideas about publicising the site, or indeed the direction in should be heading please do post or PM me/us. (Ben, I will likely PM you later about this)

How about....... some of the folders who really couldn't give a damn about their name appearing in the magazine all folding for one username called X404. If 20 people or so were all folding for the CPC team under the same name the PPD would be huge, then CPC would invite X404 to be folder of the month and you get publicity in a Dennis publication. Its a long shot, but it would make my 2009

No experience of folding, so not sure how easy the above is to accomplish, but sounds like a good idea

I did have an idea for people to use x404.co.uk as their folding name, but for experienced folders it means ditching their current identity & points. Might do it though in a month or 2 once I've hit 10 million points.

With some of the folding might we have here, I don't think it'd be hard. I think the hard bits would be a.)getting the high PPD people to sacrifice their PDD (albeit for a good cause) b.)Getting CPC to feature X404.co.uk in the mag - they'd know it was us lol. Still, certainly worth a go.

Just following up from my post in PC Software...
If I choose any of the three blue forum themes in the control panel, I don't get any delete, edit or quote buttons.
Chances are it's already on the glitch list, but I thought it was worth pointing out.
Regards
Spreadie

What do you need to know (start a new thread for technical questions). The idea will be to fold for the CPC team (35947) but with the username x404.co.uk This would get printed in the magazine.

Personally, I think the folding idea is a bit silly. Anyway, I'm sure it's already been suggested but can we pleeeeease have spoiler tags? There's several different ones available, but I've not played with them so I can't make a specific suggestion. I think they'd be used a lot. Probably not as often as they should though Spoiler: Darth Vader is his father

The very best ones have seen every film ever made, know the release dates in every country, profile you by reading every post you make and automatically hide any details that may surprise you. They also make the perfect Martini. They're not cheap to run though. I'd be quite happy typing

.

Multi-quotes. How bout a multi-quote feature? (I feel I've already asked about this but can't remember).
Saves me having to open a quoted reply in each tab and cut-and-pasting it back together.
