I start my new job shortly and, as I'm moving away, I've been out for fare thee well drinks with old work-mates and friends.

Inevitably, the conversation turned towards my old firm and how things are going there. I find out, amonst other things, that the person the company hired instead of me, when I had to re-interview for my own job, is quote "an epic failure".

I don't harbour any ill will towards this person, but is it wrong that I got a warm glow, and a feeling of smug satisfaction on hearing the news?

Nothing wrong will feeling like that, bask in it you earned it.

I've never understood that smiley, it represents jealousy to me but it mainly gets used for smugness.
