Did you hear the commentators joke about her going further in the air than Eddie The Eagle?

+1 News CLICKYThe Canadians are one to talk. They gave their athletes miles more practice runs than all the foreigners, and they have the cheek to complain that she was cheating with her helmet. I'm glad the governing body told them to go forth and multiply.

I have to say, I find much more of the winter Olympics makes for good viewing than the summer Olympics.

Half pipes were fun (although too many people wiped for it to be really considered a great competition) and I even did watch a bit of the tea-tray on ice late last night. That Amy Williams does seem a very good sort. I did like the Yank woman (can't remember her name, double-barrelled second name) who had olympic themed can headphones on while she was waiting to compete. One thing I noticed about the half-pipe, especially the women apparently; they were doing it while listening to an MP3 player. Can't be much of a sport if you can do it while listening to your iPod .

most things are easier to do when listening to music, helps you concentrate more on the track, plus makes it more fun

I wonder if it could be classed as performance enhancing. Certainly it's required in figure skating though.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I'm becoming strangely obsessed with the curling. It's one of the most tactical 'sports' I've seen in ages. The whole game seems to be about setting up a position (if you have last go in a round) or disrupting that attempt (if you don't). Plus it requires an astounding level of physical precision - in so far as you have to be able to slide a 20kg weight and be able to stop it pretty much within a foot or two of a target about 40 feet away. It's almost a combination of Snooker, Go and spin bowling in cricket. Madness.
