You watch the reply; Button got a good car length or two on Hamilton and just surrenders it? Not comparable to the Webber/Hamilton incident imo. Talking of the Webber/Hamilton incident - One thing I'm surprised at is this reference to Webber having the inside line which isn’t the racing line, granted he has the right to be there but Hamilton had passed him (just) and was on the racing line approaching the corner. He then turned slightly later so wouldn’t have passed the aprex in the normal way I assume to allow more braking distance for Mark, but Mark just steamed up the inside which meant he would have had to bring his car to a near stand still to turn into the aprex. Imo it's Mark going back to his old days of completely misjudging the situation which over the second half of the season we all thought he'd grown out of.

Am I the only one who thinks that "throw yer toys out of the pram" Alonso needs to have his pole position start looked at ?
It doesn't ever seem to matter what side of the track he's on, clean or dirty, his first move always appears to be to shunt sideways into whoever is second on the grid.
I don't like that guy. No...... I really don't like him !

I think Hamilton is the hardest charger on the grid - he would have braked super late and chucked it in, almost daring someone to match his effort. Button has a wise head on his shoulders, is usually a fast starter, and doesn't want to throw away the race on a first corner pile-up.
Hamilton tried it later on with Webber, who leads the championship and potentially has a lot to lose. So, maybe Hamilton thinks he'll pull out rather than risk a collision, but Webber is also a hard charger and came off best. Everyone then slags Hamilton for being impetuous, yet he has built his reputation by making those moves stick far more often than not.
Unfortunately, he hasn't made it stick at a crucial point in the season, and could end up out of the running if he doesn't find a balance. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Button finished the season with more points than Hamilton, although I now doubt that either of them will take the title.

I get the feeling that Hamilton is trying to use the Senna approach to driving - in an interview, Senna said that he would always go for a gap, knowing full well that if the other driver backed off, he'd do it every time. Otherwise, they'd collide and that would be it (remember Senna and Prost colliding at the beginning of the Japanese GP in 1990?). In this case it didn't work, but at least he tried. Singapore is one of the most boring circuits there is - calling the race processional would be kind.

I think button showed Hamilton far too much respect but as Fogmeister pointed out - Button finish, Hamilton didn't.

I think thats why they call it a racing incident. By the time Hamilton braked for the corner he couldn't see Webber. Webber, however, could see all of Hamiltons car and still bumped it. It's a tough sport and cannot be considered gentlemanly at any level. Button has built a wise head, criticise a much as you like, he finished and scored points. Mclaren need to up their strategy game now. Often, it seems, they leave the car on track when the tyres are falling away badly, and any time lost through track position after a stop is trumped by poor lap times on baldies.

But button is behind Hamilton on points, so what does that tell you?

I hold Hamilton in high regard but Button too. I was just making the case that you need to finish to score points.

Point is surely that if Hamilton keeps cocking it up and Button doesn't, the situation will soon be reversed...

Ditto on the respect part but the gap was huge, imo it's like the old Prost (Button) versus Senna (Hamilton) approach......

Well that was a wash out - literally. And Hamilton had to change a gear box so 5 place penalty.

Good, entertaining race, despite the dodgy TV coverage near the end.
Kobayashi really had a home field advantage. He was awesome and by far the most exciting driver to watch today.

If I was in reach of Vettel I would quite happily snap that finger in two.
