Apple has formally booted the Financial Times app out of the iTunes store for the newspaper's refusal to hand over 30 per cent of subscription revenues to the Mac maker.

So its back to the original iPhone model.. all web based and no apps for anything that has a subscription model.

Excuse me about not being at all concerned about the fortunes of a Murdoch-owned newspaper.

The FT is owned by Pearson, not Rupert Murdoch.

You just have the link on your home screen to their site. No loss to FT readers. Also the FT is not owned by Murdoch.

WTF is wrong with me? Yesterday I was agreeing with a Labour policy, today I'm agreeing with a Murdoch paper.
I really need to see a doctor.

Apple were on to a loser with this.

"You can sell through us, but we'll take a bigger cut. Oh, and you can't charge more for an eBook or subscription if it is bought through us. Oh, and we won't let you have the information about the purchaser..."

Sounds like a big losing fail, for the content providers, from the outset.

I can see it from both perspectives but I do see that the content providers should have access to customers details, though customers should have the right to block such access especially if it results in more junk mail. For smaller publishers it is a benefit that they avoid the costs of distribution.
