Apple were on to a loser with this.

Sounds like a big losing fail, for the content providers, from the outset.

I can see it from both perspectives but I do see that the content providers should have access to customers details, though customers should have the right to block such access especially if it results in more junk mail. For smaller publishers it is a benefit that they avoid the costs of distribution.
