I was being overly optimistic when I said "entire library", but if the hardware existed with a wide enough user base then most developers would make sure they could stick a "Compatible with Steam Box" sticker on their games.
It would be good to have a reference platform for developers, even if you didn't own one yourself. You don't get to display the Steam Box logo unless there are no game-breaking bugs and it plays at 25fps on the lower settings. They might then have a more realistic idea of what people actually need.
There are no modern games that wouldn't run on my PC if they were well coded. In reality, very few do so to an acceptable level...
