Could have guessed it was northern A while ago IIRC some paper tested the north/south divide and one thing was dropping notes, the one up north gave the note to an elderly man they thought dropped it, apparently he was quite surprised

TBH this doesn't surprise me, for all the [LIFTED] you read in the Daily Mail about how awful Britain is I have to say in my general experience most people are very friendly and will go out of their way to help someone.

the benefits of being English? I remember when my my mum said to me the time she tripped over in front of people and struggled to get back up, cut her hands and got a gash. Not one person bothered to ask if ok or help her back up.

Thankyou, I probably will. This morning I have dropped a glass, which smashed then the coffee jar slipped out my hand on the way back to the cupboard and spread the contents over the kitchen.

A pensioner at 54? There's a rare thing. Even rarer: A pensioner with a grand. Let's hope the government don't cut his heating allowance to gets their mitts on it.
