1. That Xbox360 comment was ridiculous - "if you don't want to play online, buy an Xbox 360" - or perhaps a PS4?!? 2. PS+ fee needs to be good. I don't need multiplayer other than for CoD and I only usn PSN to access new map packs. What I want are better servers so games don't crash/kick me out/lag etc. If part of the fee went to sort this out, I'd be happy. 3. Price - if it's too high, I'll wait till it's older and cheaper. 4. Japan - surprised Sony will risk it but I guess they want to head up competition against MS. The best thing would be to release the PS4 this side of 2013.

I do think that they must be including DLC. Otherwise the games simply will not sell, especially with the DRM that locks out used games. $90 would make it very expensive for the average kid. While most gamers are older it is a lot for many with other responsibilities. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

Yes but there are loads of them and they may not be buying the idea of always on DRM and no resales.

Nintendo: If devs are worried about used game sales, they should make better games | | | | Quote: The best way for console makers to deal with the used games market is to ensure their games are so good that people don't want to trade them in, Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime told Polygon. But supporting used games is also important, he added.
"We have been very clear, we understand that used games are a way for some consumers to monetize their games," Fils-Aime said. "They will buy a game, play it, bring it back to their retailer to get credit for their next purchase. Certainly, that impacts games that are annualized and candidly also impacts games that are maybe undifferentiated much more than [it] impacts Nintendo content. Why is that? Because the replayability of our content is super strong. The consumer wants to keep playing Mario Kart. The consumer want to keep playing New Super Mario Bros. They want to keep playing Pikmin. So we see that the trade-in frequency on Nintendo content is much less than the industry average – much, much less. So for us, we have been able to step back and say that we are not taking any technological means to impact trade-in and we are confident that if we build great content, then the consumer will not want to trade in our games." | | | | |

The notion that trade-ins are affecting game sales is and always has been BS - often the price of a trade-in is only £5 difference AT THE VERY MOST. In other words, the buyer was NEVER gonna pay full price if they're trying to minimize cost/risk like that. And how do they think kids buy new games? You know, including the ones with the really expensive maps that need/will need a subscription? It's not like they're even getting a decent return on, er, their returns...

From my experience of those who trade games in they usually trade in a number of games, and then get new games. Several weeks later they trade them in again. Only good games get kept longer. Like you I doubt that the second hand trade cost the industry a lot. I suspect that the biggest factor in games sales are alternatives such as mobile games. Why buy a £30 game when you can get a reasonable mobile game for £1.99

Xbox One policy won't change in the short-term - Spencer http://www.computerandvideogames.com/41 ... m-spencer/They could still turn this around before launch, especially since the publishers seem lost too, but nooooooo.... they'd rather hedge their bets and see how many morons buy in at the start. Wanna raise revenue AND slow second hand sales? Take all those exclusives you spent so long and probably a fortune obtaining and add extra levels, characters whatever to them. Money all round, stream of users to the store etc. ... Cliff Bleszinski backs anti-used-game DRM http://www.computerandvideogames.com/41 ... -game-drm/And your transition from respected games dude to dickhead businessman is complete.

Brilliant response to Cliff http://www.destructoid.com/used-games-a ... 6227.phtmlI just don't give a stuff about graphics if the game's good, and I don't know how many games I haven't finished because the cut-scenes were risible yet presumably cost a fortune. FFS, a bit of in-game narration goes a long way if nothing else!

Hold on. I do not care about marketing budgets. If the game is good then word of mouth will tell everyone what they need to know. They will leave glowing reviews. All that is needed are simple ads or prizes to be given via magazines and you can get to serious gamers who might subscribe to gaming magazines and they can leave reviews. Gameplay always trumps looks for gamers.

Common sense really. Though I suspect that this DRM is really targeted at pirated games, though why not embrace used games to eliminate piracy?
